Leadership

Regional engineering leadership, built plant-side.

I am Regional Manager, Maintenance & Engineering for a seven-site Washington processing region. My accountability spans maintenance and reliability, capital project management, infrastructure and engineering services — the five-year plan for each site, the people who execute it, and the results after commissioning.

I work best where brownfield constraint and greenfield ambition meet: keeping 40-year-old plant running and improving while designing the facility that eventually replaces it. I held end-to-end accountability for the programs presented here — from business case and authorization through engineering, execution, commissioning and benefit realization.

02 — How I operate

Capital strategy & authorization

Five-year plans for each site, with every line item carrying a category, rationale, A/B/C priority, basis of estimate and savings type. CARs and BOD packages written, defended and approved — from multi-million-dollar automation lines up to a $500M+ greenfield case — with ROI, IRR and payback modeled, then verified at commissioning.

People & organizational leadership

Hiring and developing site maintenance leadership, setting standards that hold when I am not in the building, and partnering with HR, Operations and Finance on staffing models — including automation transitions that reshaped crews rather than simply cutting them.

Safety, compliance & food safety

Guarding, e-stops, zone safety interlocks, arc-flash and lockout considerations, quick disconnects for sanitation, and sanitary design reviewed with QA and food safety before install — not retrofitted after a finding.

Brownfield execution

Ten-day holiday shutdown installs with prefab staged on weekends, phased mechanical and electrical, onsite engineering through commissioning, operator and sanitation training, and formal signoffs.

Controls & data

First enterprise SCADA platform, PLC/VFD standardization, machine-interface integration across mixed OEM fleets, and uptime/stop-cause reporting leadership actually uses.

Vendor & systems management

OEM and integrator selection through RFP, scope-of-supply negotiation, FAT/SAT and long-lead procurement sequencing across international suppliers, with spend, POs and asset records carried in the plant business systems.
